About-Essex-Industries

Essex Industries is a leading supplier to the Aerospace and Defense, First Response, Safety and Medical markets.

Founded in 1947 by Harold and Sidney Guller in their father’s basement, the company has grown to four facilities, with over 180,000 square feet of manufacturing space and 290 employees.

HAB_logo2014-300pxThe Gullers entered the Aerospace and Defense market with their first product, an F-214 Radio Noise Filter.  Over the past seven decades, the product range has grown to include Life Support Equipment, Ground Support Equipment, Platform Controls and Aircraft Components.  As a result, Essex Industries has been a part of virtually every major military and commercial aerospace program since 1947.

As Essex expanded their offering to the Aerospace and Defense markets, they applied those technologies to other demanding, commercial industries and acquired companies to support the new market opportunities.

Essex Cryogenics launched in 1963, with designs and the capability to manufacture liquid oxygen (LOX) converters which provide a means of storing oxygen as a liquid and then expanding it into clean breathable oxygen as needed for the pilot and crew.  This highly efficient method of oxygen storage and delivery, originally designed for Aerospace applications, has readily transferred to ground-based First Response and Medical applications.

The 1970’s saw Essex establish the Fluid Controls group of thermal/electrothermal valve assemblies and actuators as well as a Medical group providing valves, flow selectors and regulators.

In 1991, Essex acquired the Portable Breathing and Rescue Products Division from The DuPont® Corporation, which enhanced the company’s offering to the Aerospace, First Response and Safety markets.   And in 2001, The Respiratory Group was established to serve home healthcare and institutional care respiratory equipment providers.

Through the years, Essex Industries has built on the company’s rich history, establishing a reputation for providing engineered solutions to customers’ problems.   With exacting quality standards and manufacturing expertise, Essex Industries is a company you can rely on for your toughest application requirements.
