HEAR FROM OUR FAMILY

Community

Essex knows the importance of being an active community member. It brings us together and helps celebrate individuals who make a difference in people’s lives. Whether it is our Affton High School STEM program, Toys for Tots, St. Louis Men’s Group Against Cancer, the ALS Association, Pedal the Cause charity ride, Blood Drives, and more, we believe in giving back.

Military

SUPPORT. HIRE. GROW.

Go from being of service to providing products and services — and be rewarded. Essex values the key traits that define the men and women who choose to enter military service. Veterans are instilled with the character, dedication, leadership and commitment that translate into providing the quality service and products our customers expect. Align your character and skills with a wide variety of opportunities in manufacturing, engineering, IT, business and more, and begin a meaningful and rewarding career at Essex.

Essex invests in growing the careers of veteran talent through speaking engagements, mentoring, specialized training and advocacy programs. We are here to support your transition and we recognize and celebrate our veterans.

Engagement

As a member of the Essex family, you have the opportunity to contribute and make a difference in the company. Essex develops long careers, strong friendships and great products for our customers. The size and culture of the company allows for career advancement. But just as importantly, lets employees contribute and have a voice in the process. Our employees are not restricted by title and have access to all levels of leadership and are encouraged to work as a team to solve problems and find new solutions. With the diverse range of opportunities available, there are many rewarding careers at Essex.

Recognition

47 Club
This club celebrates employees that go above and beyond in their role by demonstrating extraordinary performance for their team and Essex. The recognition is for actions or accomplishments that are beyond the scope of the employee’s regular day-to-day activities and responsibilities. 47 Club is a way for Essex to celebrate people that model great behaviors to help make this a great place to work. The club is named after Essex’s founding in 1947.

Impressions
Employees across Essex can award an Impression to another employee or group of people. Impressions appear on Essex’ social collaboration feed for others to see. It’s a great program that allows anyone in the company to thank someone else for the outstanding work they are doing. It further models one of our company values of Win Together by recognizing that it takes everyone to help make Essex a great place to work. Impressions can be awarded or received at any time by anyone.

Your Voice – Our Future

At Essex, we are working together to make this a enjoyable place to work for all employees. It’s the responsibility of everyone in the company to make working at Essex a delightful experience. We all have a voice and want everyone to be heard.

Essex takes time to get feedback from employees in many ways. Our engagement survey is a useful starting point to hear from our employees. In addition, we have been using focus groups to continue receiving inputs from employees on areas we can improve as a community and company. Focus groups are an opportunity to bring employees from across the company in different departments and facilities together to share ideas. We put the feedback into action and are making changes to build a strong culture and empower our employees.

Our continuous improvement team has implemented Action Item Boards where employees can share ideas, ask for assistance and make recommendations. This lean culture offers employees more ways to engage in improving their job and work environment.

Social Collaboration

Community
Community is a social collaboration platform available to all Essex employees. It’s a place that employees can go to share ideas, recognize others, ask questions and celebrate successes. Essex employees share personal milestones as well, such as pictures of newborns and engagement stories. As an organization, we are able to post important announcements that employees can easily access on a mobile device. Information moves fast, but keeping up with news is easy for everyone through Community.

Fun Events
It’s important that we make time for company interaction. Throughout the year, we hold fun events like ice cream day, donut day, sporting event BBQ days and holiday luncheons. We have a time honored tradition of holding milestone anniversary luncheons with our employees so we can celebrate their time at Essex and share stories with one another. We also have annual company picnic. It allows the opportunity to bring our work families together with our personal families and enjoy a day out.

Work Life Harmony

Employees are encouraged to have work life harmony while working at Essex. We all have an important job to achieve while at work, but we recognize that employees also have personal goals. We want to help create an environment for employees where work and life can work in harmony together.

One program (Essex Gives) includes time off to volunteer to a cause that’s important to the employee. This volunteer work allows the employee to give back to the community while supporting a program that is meaningful to them.

Essex also offers eligible positions the opportunity to work a flexible work schedule or telecommute during part of their workweek. This flexibility allows employees to be home or attend family events.

The company also offers a Work Sabbatical Program for employees that want or need to take extended time away from work. This leave time gives employees time away from work to handle personal matters that do not qualify for other leave programs.

Essex Cares
We recognize unexpected events happen in people’s lives, so we offer opportunities for Essex employees to give back to their colleagues in need. Essex Cares helps employees who are experiencing financial hardship due to a disaster or other extreme situation by making grants to help cover basic living needs. Essex co-workers make these grants possible and the program is managed by a third party charitable entity.
