Essex Industries is pleased to announce that their PBE, Protective Breathing Equipment, was selected by Korean Air for its new CS300 aircraft.
The Essex PBE is a self-contained personal breathing device that provides crewmembers with protection during emergencies in an aircraft. The PBE is easy to activate and use, donning in just 15 seconds. Its unique design eliminates the need for an oral/nasal mask so that crewmembers can communicate while wearing the unit. The Essex PBE provides up to 60 minutes of aviator’s grade oxygen by means of two oxygen cylinder assemblies, unlike other units that use chemical-oxygen generators. Recognized for its safe design, the Essex PBE is the lightest unit available, making it more comfortable for the crew and reducing fuel costs for the airline through weight reduction. Essex PBE’s are installed in the majority of U.S. airlines and a growing number of carriers throughout the world. The PBE holds FAA TSO-C116 and TSO-C99 approvals as well as CAA, EASA, CAAC and ANAC approvals.
Ranked as one of the top 20 passenger carriers in the world, Korean Air maintains a fleet of 164 planes and operates scheduled flights to 123 cities in 43 countries worldwide. It is the largest airline and flag carrier of South Korea based on fleet size, international destinations and international flights. Korean Air is part of the SkyTeam Airline Alliance.
